Gifted this from Nip+Fab to trial, and the formulas genuinely speak for themselves, largely because The Fix is refreshingly transparent about what's actually in them.
The packaging discloses active ingredient trade names and inclusion levels in full, which is not something I've seen before; those are often hidden as a part of product intellectual property.
The routine itself is exactly what I like: simple and not complicated. It opens with a water -based serum, light, smooth to apply, no oil phase so it sits well under the next step. The active list is absolutely impressive: a bio-placenta peptide blend, amino acids, niacinamide, to name a few. Knowing what some of these actives cost/kg, it's exciting to see them used at this level outside prestige skincare.
The cream is loaded with ceramides and next-generation plant extracts, the combination of light, and heavier emollients gives that velvety spreadability with nourishing but equally light after feel. It finishes with a UVA day shield, SPF 50, broad- spectrum, light on the skin, layers easily under makeup, no white cast. Products are fragrance-free, so no complexity around allergens.
For anyone in NPD, we know packaging matters as much as what's inside. This one is spot one. The bottles felt a touch heavy opening them for the first time, but they look beautiful on the shelf, and the tactile, boxes printed with precision round out an experience that feels genuinely premium. From narrative to execution, this range is a total win.
Having worked with Rachel Farndon before, I didn't expect anything less than perfection, and these truly are. Can't recommend it enough

New industry benchmark in transparency: The Fix review

Nip+Fab sent me "The Fix," their new three-piece range ahead of its launch with one request: interrogate and give an honest technical review and publish what you find- good or bad.
As a cosmetic chemist, I know how rare this is. Brands don't usually hand over full, unredacted formulas before launch, let alone invite scrutiny.
The Concept Itself:
There is a quiet revolution happening in PR: brands are bypassing traditional influencers in favor of industry experts. While an influencer can describe how a formulation feels on the skin, they lack the technical background to verify if peptide concentrations are effective or if a UV filter system offers true broad-spectrum stability.
By sending products to professionals who can actually check the math, this brand demonstrated rare confidence. Over the past month, I evaluated all three products alongside their full formulation data. Providing an insider's technical assessment without any editorial constraints is a bold move for a brand and it sets a new standard for industry transparency. Huge congratulations to Michael Hume for leading on this!
The Serum
A multi-peptide system paired with skin-identical ceramides and hyaluronic acid. This targets multiple ageing pathways simultaneously a sophisticated approach. Lightweight, fast-absorbing, no tackiness, giving the firming and tightening effect along with long-term hydration.
The Cream
Pairs ceramides with cholesterol and phytosphingosine- the three building blocks your skin barrier relies on. It's not just adding one trendy ingredient; it respects barrier biology. And it's fragrance-free. For sensitive skin, this is a deliberate, consumer-first choice. Rich but not heavy.
The UVA Day Shield
My personal favourite. SPF 50+, PA++++, and 5-star UVA protection. That level of UVA protection is rarely seen on the high street. Using modern filters. No octocrylene, oxybenzone, or homosalate. No white cast. No fragrance. Thin, smooth, light.
The Premium Packaging
Every product comes with its full formula printed on the carton, not just the legally required INCI list. Claims can actually be checked against what's in the bottle. That level of detail is rare and extraordinary.
Overall Verdict
The Fix is a masterclass in formulation rigor and transparency. The ingredient choices have a clear scientific rationale. The concentrations sit within ranges shown to be effective. The barrier support is biologically informed. The SPF and UVA claim is genuinely exceptional. The one thing I haven't seen yet is published clinical trial data on the finished products. That's the gold standard for proving efficacy, and it's far rarer in skincare. I'm told more is to come, and I'll be watching for it.

Jaylene Kunaoye - Cosmetic Scientist

What are my honest thoughts on Nip+Fab’s new launch? Revolutionary. Michael Hume reached out to myself and other industry professionals to test this out.
The reason it’s revolutionary is due to being one of it’s kind, where a brand is showing 100% transparency by sharing the INCI percentages with material data (*hellooo* first of all do you know how big that is), cost of making the product and all clinical trial data to the general PUBLIC!!! Everything on “The Fix” tab on their website.
At first I thought “wow aren’t they afraid of competitors” *shock face*, even me aren’t I ? … but they answered why for themselves: “We want customers to see what they’re actually paying for”
I’ve used this 3-step system coming close to a month now and can share my feedback. Using the serum, I definitely had an instant tightening effect whilst it still being very hydrating. Layering the cream after for the first time made me say aloud, verbatim, “this feels cushiony”- very plumping indeed. The SPF I loved for 2 reasons: 1. No white cast (*wooh* POC-friendly) 2. Gave me an instant glasslike glow to my skin without it feeling greasy. (The only thing I’d say is, if you’re not gentle it can start to pile, but it’s not much- I used tapping motions to take off)
*Gifted. No obligation to make a post or video (except for honest opinion whether privately or publicly).

The Fix is a three-piece range: a serum, a cream and a UVA day shield.

Reading the ingredients, the story is consistent. There are peptides and biomimetic growth factors, a retinoid-like cyclic peptide and NAD+ boosters for the visible signs of ageing. Skin-identical ceramides and hyaluronic acid for hydration and moisture retention. And carnosine with UVA protection for photoageing. "Fix" is a bold name; but it looks very promising.
A few things stood out.
The transparency. Finally, there's something worth reading on a carton. Every product comes with its full formula, not just the legally required ingredient list. I can't think of any brands that go this far, and it means claims can actually be checked against what's in the bottle.
The peptides. It's a multi-peptide approach rather than one hero ingredient: growth-factor-mimicking peptides, a retinoid-like cyclic peptide, and carnosine in the day shield to target glycation. It's a mix I'd more often expect from clinic-led brands than the high street.
The barrier support. The cream pairs ceramides with cholesterol and phytosphingosine, which are the building blocks your skin barrier relies on.
No added fragrance. Honestly, a big plus. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of contact allergy, so this matters if your skin is sensitive.
The day shield. This is the one I'd least want anyone to skip. Sun protection is still the best-evidenced thing you can do to prevent skin ageing. It uses seven modern chemical filters, including two dedicated to long UVA, the rays that reach deepest and drive photoageing, plus Tinosorb S, which covers UVA and UVB and helps keep the formula stable in sunlight. It leaves out octocrylene, oxybenzone and homosalate, which some people prefer to avoid, and adds antioxidants and carnosine to target glycation. No white cast, no fragrance (a big plus!).
And texture, purely personal: thin, smooth and light. Easy to wear every day in UK weather. That's not a result, but a routine only works if you actually use it!
The formulation choices have a clear scientific rationale, backed by concentrations that sit within ranges shown to work. I always love to see clinical trial data on the finished products, and that's the one thing I haven't seen yet for The Fix, but more is to come. Published clinical evidence is far rarer in skincare than in medicines, which is why opening formulations up to outside review matters.

The line keeps things refreshingly simple: three products, one routine.
The serum is built around Solalift®WP — tri-saccharide pearls infused with micro-encapsulated sodium hyaluronate that tighten and hydrate the skin; Niacinamide PC, a versatile workhorse that supports skin health and brightness while fading post-acne marks; BIO-Placenta, an ingredient new to me in skincare, which supplies growth factors that support the skin's own collagen synthesis, alongside AC Vegetable Collagen PF; and Cycloretin™, which works like a retinol — smoothing fine lines and improving firmness by enhancing the skin's own natural retinol activity — without the purging typically associated with retinoids.
The cream is rich yet surprisingly lightweight, with SK-Influx® Evolve MB, a blend of skin-identical ceramides (NP, AP, EOP) that replenish and strengthen the skin barrier; RejuveNAD™, a bioactive that boosts NAD+ to support cellular energy and skin health; HYmagic™-4D, combining four hyaluronic acids; and Cellaige™, an AI-designed peptide inspired by the benefits of HIIT training that supports cellular function and skin renewal.
The sunscreen impressed me most: an advanced UV filter system with seven UVA/UVB filters, achieving SPF 77 in vitro — well above the minimum of 60 for an SPF 50+ classification — alongside a 0.99 UVA ratio, the highest possible 5-star rating under the UK Boots Star Rating system. It also includes Photobiome, protecting the skin's microbiome from UV-related stress. Despite the density of filters, it's lightweight, never greasy, and leaves no white cast — something I valued testing it on my own golden skin tone.
The whole line is non-comedogenic, a real plus for acne-prone skin, and each product stands well on its own within an existing routine.
What I appreciated most was The Fix's approach: reaching people through authenticity and backing claims with real, documented results. I also loved their commitment to vegan ingredients and their use of advanced, AI-driven technology in formulation. As a marketing student at LSE x FourthRev, it's made me more aware of how much of the industry leans on retouched imagery over genuine clinical data — leaving consumers understandably sceptical, even of products that do work. Seeing a brand lead with real substantiation, not just the finished visuals, was refreshing.

t’s not every day you get to be part of something as unique as the launch of #TheFix by Nip+Fab.
I was genuinely honoured when Michael Hume contacted me and asked if I would join the panel.
When I received the collection, my first impression was simply: impressed. From the external packaging to discovering the bottle inside, there was something special about the whole concept. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into it.
As a cosmetic formulator, I’m often quite critical of formulations packed with actives, particularly when they seem to be included more for marketing than for a clear purpose.
What stands out to me here is that each active has a defined role and, importantly, the reasoning behind those choices is explained to you, the consumer.
The emphasis on the science behind the formulation choices, rather than simply headlining ingredient claims, really resonates with me.
But ultimately, I also wanted to see how it worked for me as a consumer.
And I can tell you, I’ve made it my own! 😅 Can you tell from the picture?
The Serum + UVA Shield will probably be my go-to combination, with the cream being something I’ll add on days when I feel I need a little more. I naturally gravitate towards very light textures, so this combination suits me particularly well.
Although, I have occasionally applied the serum, wandered off while waiting for it to dry and then completely forgotten the rest of the routine. One of the hazards of working from home! 😂
But when you do layer the cream and UVA Shield on top, you can really tell that the three products were thought about together. They feel like a routine rather than three separate products sitting alongside each other.

Nip+Fab THE FIX has entered the chat💬
…And the INCI List came prepared🧳💅🏽✨
1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ Steps.
1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ Formulations.
And enough Actives to make a Cosmetic Scientist need coffee😮‍💨☕️
STEP 1 💧SERUM:
The Hydrating and Lifting Headline Act🎙️
•BIO-Placenta 3%
Lab-engineered🧫 Human placental proteins.
Probably the most “wait… WHAT!?”🫨 ingredient in the formula
•CycloRetin™ 0.3%
The Undercover Agent🕵️
Works with skin retinoid pathways without actually being Retinol🫣😶‍🌫️
•The brick-by-brick Peptide Stack🧱
Because apparently ONE Peptide wasn’t enough!🤷🏽‍♀️😄
STEP 2 🧴CREAM:
This is where the formulation gets interesting🤔
✔️Hydration at multiple levels of the skin interface💦
✔️A classic Lipid-barrier🧈 strategy
✔️Positioned around Cellular longevity and Skin ageing biohacks🧬
STEP 3 ☀️UVA DAY SHIELD:
Because why let ALL that work get Sunburnt?😳🤦🏽‍♀️
Nip+Fab says the SPF testing produced an SPF result of 77 with the product rated SPF50+ and PA++++
PS: Not only does this step deserve more hype!
But can we have a moment of appreciation for the Melanin-Rich Skin application?!👏🏽
No “blend until your arms fall off”😑
Because broad-spectrum protection may be the science… but elegant application is the love language🫶🏽
VERDICT
What this ISN’T: “How many Hero ingredients can we squeeze into one bottle?”😏🫠
What this IS: “Do these technologies still perform when formulated, layered and used together?”🔬🧐

Our core ranges offer results-driven, targeted formulations, giving you the flexibility to select proven actives and build a routine around your individual skin goals.

With The Fix, we took that same philosophy further. The challenge was to deliver a clinically proven routine in just three products, without compromising on the breadth of ingredients, technologies or protection.

Consolidating the routine allowed us to invest more into each formula, bringing together the latest in active ingredient innovation, biomimetic technologies and advanced UVA protection, with each product designed to complement the next.

The result is our most comprehensive formula-first approach to preventative skincare, supporting optimal skin function, strengthening resilience and helping protect against the factors that contribute to visible skin ageing. Treatment, nourishment and protection, in one streamlined system built around skin longevity.

Do I need all 3 products?

The three formulas have been deliberately developed as a system, with each product performing a different role:

The Serum treats.

The Cream moisturises.

The UVA Day Shield protects.

Together, they form The 3 Step Routine and are designed to complement one another rather than requiring you to build a complicated routine from multiple products.

Will you be launching other serum and moisturiser options in the future?

No. We will not be launching alternative versions of The Serum, Cream, or UVA Day Shield.

This 3-step system is engineered as the definitive, single solution for facial skin across all skin types. Rather than diluting the line with endless variations, we will simply review the technology and elevate these exact formulas whenever cosmetic science makes a genuine leap forward.

While we will introduce future products developed specifically for other areas of the body, we will not be adding further treatments to your facial routine.

Why is there no cleanser or toner in the range?

The Fix is built around bringing the absolute cutting edge of cosmetic science to market, which requires a higher RRP to support advanced active concentrations.

We do not believe current technology justifies charging over £20 for a cleanser or £30 for a toner. Cleansing and toning should always remain tailored to your specific skin type and individual concerns, and those needs are already served exceptionally well by core Nip+Fab formulas or other brands, right before you apply The Fix.

We will only develop a cleanser or toner under The Fix if the underlying science evolves to a point where a formula delivers proven, measurable performance well beyond what is currently possible.

Where is your product made?

Our formulas are manufactured in Somerset in the UK, where every batch is blended and filled.

Our outer boxes are also manufactured right here in the UK. For packaging hardware, our bottles and caps are produced in China, and all customer orders are dispatched directly from our warehouse in London.

Why don't you offer trial/sample sizes?

Sample sizes (like 10ml) cost up to 60% of a full-sized product's manufacturing cost. Rather than inflating full-size prices to subsidize samples, we keep our prices accessible year-round.

Do I use The Fix in the morning and evening?

Yes, with one important difference.

Use The Serum and The Cream morning and evening.

Use The UVA Day Shield every morning as the final step in your skincare routine.

Why is the retail price set where it is when the product costs under £10 to make?

We published our complete cost breakdown openly so you can see precisely where every penny of the retail price goes to make a safe, extensively tested, and clinically proven range possible.

As the first brand to release this level of commercial detail, we want to be entirely transparent about our fixed costs, testing, fulfilment, and customer acquisition. We invest a significantly higher proportion of our retail price directly into formula quality than the wider market, often two to three times more than typical competitors.

Acquiring new customers and fulfilling individual orders means we actually lose money when you buy a single product for the first time. Even with a two or three product order, that initial loss is only reduced. Our model only works commercially if you see visible, transformative results and choose to return. That is why the formulas have to perform well beyond expectations.

It is also why we can offer your fourth 3-step system free when you subscribe. By that point, the initial acquisition costs are cleared, and we can pass that margin straight back to you. We are backing the performance of the products completely, betting that the results speak for themselves.

Ingredients & Suitability
How is the range suitable for all skin types when each skin type needs different ingredients?

Skin types vary at the surface, but the underlying mechanisms of skin ageing and cellular damage are universal.

You tailor your routine to your individual skin type during your cleansing and toning steps, which address surface factors like oil production, congestion, or dry patches. Once the skin is prepped, our core treatment products deliver high-potency collagen support, cellular regeneration, and broad-spectrum defence. Because these physiological benchmarks are identical across all skin profiles, the targeted treatment works effectively for everyone without disrupting your specific skin type.

Is the product vegan and cruelty-free?

Yes. All products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free. We do not use animal-derived ingredients in our formulas, and our products are not tested on animals.

Is the product suitable for use with a nut allergy?

The Cream contains Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract

Our products are manufactured in facilities that do not process nuts. However, some formulas may contain ingredients derived from or associated with nuts.

If you have a known nut allergy, we recommend checking the full ingredient list on the product page before use and consulting your healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Is the product suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

The products are formulated without ingredients that are typically advised against during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

As with any skincare, we recommend checking with your healthcare professional before introducing new products while pregnant or breastfeeding.

Is the product fragrance free?

Yes. All products are fragrance-free.

Why does the product not contain Vitamin C?

We use Astaxanthin as the key antioxidant within the UVA Day Shield to act as your primary free radical remover.

Astaxanthin is proven to be an extremely effective antioxidant even at very low concentrations, making it significantly less irritating than pure ascorbic acid. In addition, our combination of peptides throughout The Fix contributes directly to the antioxidant nature of the routine, delivering powerful defense without the instability or sensitivity risks of traditional Vitamin C.

Why does the system not contain retinol?

We wanted to ensure the entire system could be used seamlessly both morning and night. Traditional retinol carries potential photosensitivity risks, and without guaranteeing every customer applies the UVA Day Shield every single day in sufficient volumes, using standard retinol or retinal was a risk we chose to avoid.

Instead, we formulated with CycloRetin, a plant-derived cyclical peptide alternative. It has been heavily tested for effectiveness directly against retinol and is proven to be considerably more effective than bakuchiol, delivering advanced regenerative benefits around the clock without the sensitivity, sun reactivity, or irritation.

What does The Serum do?

The Serum is the treatment step of The 3 Step System.

Its dual-textured formula combines Hydra-Lyfting Tri-Saccharide Pearls and Collagen Amino Acids for hydration and an immediate tightening effect, alongside precision-targeted Peptides and biomimetic Growth Factors designed to support collagen and elastin synthesis and longer-term skin rejuvenation.

Use it morning and evening after cleansing and toning, before The Cream.

What does The Cream do?

The Cream is the moisturising step of The 3 Step System.

The lightweight, nourishing formula combines skin-identical Ceramides and multiple forms of Hyaluronic Acid with an NAD+ booster, Peptides and antioxidant-rich ingredients. Together, these help to support skin hydration, barrier function, firmness and resilience while addressing visible signs of ageing.

Use it morning and evening after The Serum.

What does The UVA Day Shield do?

The UVA Day Shield is the protection step of The 3 Step System.

It provides SPF 50+ broad-spectrum protection, PA++++ and 5-star UVA protection, while maintaining an ultra-lightweight, layerable texture with no white or blue cast.

The formula also contains skincare actives including Peptides, Astaxanthin, Prebiotic Stem Cells and Micro Algae.

Use it every morning after The Cream.

Clinical Testing
What methodology was used to measure skin density in the trial?

Skin density was assessed using high-frequency ultrasound sonography, a validated, non-invasive quantitative clinical methodology.

Using a 22 MHz ultrasound probe operating in B-scan mode, the technology scans the dermal architecture and measures acoustic reflections within the skin to assess collagen content and the structure of the dermis.

As collagen is a major structural component of the dermis, this provides an objective indication of the skin’s overall structural support and density. While collagen density and skin density are not exactly the same measurement, they are closely related, with collagen contributing significantly to the density, strength and support of the skin.

Three individual measurements were taken at different points within each test site on both the left and right sides of the face to track changes throughout the study.

Has the product been dermatologically tested?

Yes. From a strict safety and sensitive skin compliance standard, the range has been fully tested so we can carry the dermatologically tested claim.

However, we chose to go well beyond standard check-box testing. Ahead of launch, we are working with around 150 independent dermatologists, cosmetic scientists, scale-up engineers, and biomedical researchers to peer review, test, and actively scrutinize our formulations alongside our transparency mission.

Our goal with 100% transparency is simple: by opening our formulas and clinical data to educated, experienced, and independent scientific voices you can actually trust, you can feel completely confident that your trust in us is well placed.

What are the different areas measured by your clinical trial ?
Who took part in the clinical trial, and was the panel representative of the UK population?

Our 90-day independent clinical trial included 60 participants aged between 35 and 55, designed to test efficacy across all skin tones and skin types:

Gender: 80% female and 20% male, closely reflecting our primary core skincare audience.

Skin Tone: 80% Fitzpatrick Skin Types I to IV and 20% Fitzpatrick Skin Types V and VI, ensuring meaningful representation across deeper skin tones and aligning with broader UK demographic profiles.

Testing across the complete Fitzpatrick scale ensured we validated performance, safety, and visible results across all skin types.

How to Use
How long will the 3-step system last?

Based on average daily usage rates, the complete 3 Step System will typically last between 45 and 60 days. This is not an exact science, which makes it about the only part of The Fix that isn't.

To achieve the benchmark results demonstrated in our 90-day independent clinical trial, you will need two sets. Our ideal recommendation is committing to four sets. Skin cell replenishment cycles take time to fully utilize advanced actives, and staying with the routine across four cycles allows visible results to truly compound and lock in.

The Fix is not designed around superficial overnight miracles that fade just as quickly. It is engineered for sustained, long-term cellular health. Running a full one-year clinical trial to demonstrate this extended compounding effect would have added around £100,000 to development costs and pushed our retail price beyond an accessible level. Our 12-week protocol was selected as a rigorous, clinically proven indicator of what consistent use delivers.

If you subscribe to the system from your first order, your fourth set is completely free, making it easier and more cost-effective to maintain the routine long enough to see the deepest cumulative benefits.

I already have a Nip+Fab routine. Should I stop using it and replace everything with The Fix?

If you already have a full Nip+Fab routine and are happy with your results, stick with it.

If you want to step up to even higher performance and are comfortable investing at this price point, you can transition smoothly. While we recognize this investment is not for everyone, these formulations would easily sit between £200 and £300 from clinic-led or luxury brands, and we engineered them to remain as accessible as possible without compromising active potency.

To make the switch, keep your current Nip+Fab cleansing and toning routine exactly as it is today. Then, replace all subsequent treatment and moisturising steps, morning and night, with the 3 products from The Fix.

When I unscrew the lid, there is no pump to use, just the dip tube?

The bottle features a pull-off cap rather than a screw top. Simply screw the closure back on tightly, then pull the clear cap straight off to reveal the pump mechanism underneath.

Does any of the product pill under make up?

The formulas have been developed to be lightweight, layerable and easy to wear every day, including under make-up. Each product is designed to layer comfortably within the three-step system without feeling heavy or causing pilling.

For the best finish, allow each product to absorb before applying the next. After applying UVA Day Shield, we recommend waiting 15–20 minutes before applying make-up, allowing the sunscreen to settle and form an even, protective film on the skin.

Can the system be combined with retinol?

Yes. You can still apply your existing retinol or retinal serum after cleansing and toning in the evening, right before applying The Fix Serum if you wish.

How much should I apply in each application?

Apply 2 pumps of each product across your face, neck, and décolletage, adjusting slightly if you feel your skin needs more. For optimal absorption, wait 1 minute between each layer.

The Fix Serum: Smooth 2 pumps over clean, toned skin morning and evening until absorbed, then follow with The Fix Cream.

The Fix Cream: Apply 2 pumps over the face, neck, and décolletage morning and evening after your serum. Allow it to absorb fully before moving to your final morning step.

The Fix UVA Day Shield: Dispense 2 pumps evenly over your face, neck, and décolletage as the final step in your morning routine. Apply at least 15 minutes before sun exposure to ensure complete, even defense.

Sun Protection
What is the actual SPF factor of the UVA Day Shield, and how much UVA protection am I getting?

While labeled as an SPF 50+ product, the formula achieved an in vitro SPF testing score of 77 in the laboratory. This significantly exceeds the minimum SPF 60 benchmark required for an SPF 50+ regulatory classification, delivering exceptionally high UVB defense against surface sunburn.

Because SPF solely measures UVB rays, we engineered and tested the UVA Day Shield to deliver an equally formidable defense against deep structural UVA radiation:

In Vitro UVA-PF of 76.8: Achieving a 76.8 UVA Protection Factor places our protection at 4.8 times higher than the minimum threshold required for the highest global rating, PA++++.

Near 1:1 UVA to UVB Balance: Standard sunscreens are legally required to deliver a UVA protection factor equal to only one third of their UVB protection. Our formula pairs an SPF 77 with a 76.8 UVA-PF, creating an almost identical 1:1 protective ratio.

In Vivo UVA-PF of 20: When tested directly on human skin under real-world conditions, the formula achieved an in vivo UVA-PF of 20, well above the clinical PA++++ minimum of 16.

This delivers category-leading protection against both surface burning (UVB) and the long-wave radiation responsible for cellular collagen degradation and premature ageing (UVA), all within an ultra-lightweight daily texture.

What is the difference between UVA and UVB rays, and why are these claims important?

Ultraviolet radiation consists of two primary wavelengths that affect skin tissue at fundamentally different depths. Standard sunscreens often over-index on burning protection while under-delivering on long-term ageing defense. The Fix UVA Day Shield maintains a near 1:1 balance between both spectrums to ensure skin is equally defended against deep structural degradation and surface damage.

UVA (Ageing): Long-wave radiation (320 to 400 nm) representing roughly 95% of the UV radiation reaching the Earth's surface. UVA penetrates deeply into the dermis, where it breaks down structural collagen and elastin, causing premature wrinkles and loss of firmness. UVA intensity remains remarkably consistent all day, all year round, cutting directly through clouds and standard window glass. UVA defense is measured globally by the Boots 5-Star system and PA ratings.

UVB (Burning): Short-wave, high-energy radiation (290 to 320 nm) absorbed mainly by the superficial epidermal layers. UVB fluctuates by season and time of day, peaking around midday, and is the direct cause of redness, sunburn, and surface DNA mutations. UVB defense is measured by the SPF number.

Achieving balanced defense across both wavelengths is critical. The Fix UVA Day Shield achieved a critical wavelength of 379 nm, comfortably exceeding the 370 nm regulatory threshold for broad-spectrum claims. This confirms true, uninterrupted protection extending deep into the longest, most damaging UVA wavelengths.

How can you be sure of the high level of UVA protection in the UVA Day Shield?

We built an unusually rigorous, multi-stage testing protocol to verify that the protection measured in the laboratory translates directly to the bottle on your shelf:

Dual-Stage Production Testing: Standard regulatory requirements only call for testing the initial pre-production lab batch. We chose to test both our preliminary formulation and our full-scale bulk manufacture run, ensuring the final packaged product matches the exact protection profile engineered in the laboratory.

Independent Dual-Lab Validation: To ensure complete consistency and eliminate variance, we test our UVA and UVB protection levels across two independent facilities: one in the United Kingdom and one in Germany.

Boots 5-Star Standard: We test against the Boots 5-Star UVA rating, one of the most demanding global benchmarks for balanced, broad-spectrum defense.

Rather than relying on closed-door compliance, we publish our complete testing data publicly so every measurement is fully transparent and independently verified.

When should I apply The UVA Day Shield?

Apply The UVA Day Shield as the final step of your morning skincare routine, after The Serum and The Cream.

Apply a minimum of 15 minutes before sun exposure.

How much of The UVA Day Shield should I apply?

As a guide, sunscreen should be applied at approximately 2 mg per square centimetre of skin. For the face, neck and ears, this equates to around half a teaspoon.

Using less sunscreen than recommended can significantly reduce the level of protection achieved.

Do I need to reapply The UVA Day Shield?

Yes. Reapply throughout the day where possible and frequently during prolonged sun exposure, particularly after swimming, perspiring or towelling.

No sunscreen provides complete protection, so avoid excessive sun exposure, particularly during peak hours, and keep babies and young children out of direct sunlight.
